How I Got Started

     Snow guns are very simple but fascinating machines. There are two basic categories of snow machines. They are "air/water" guns and "airless" fan guns. It sounds like there is not mush difference but really there is a very big difference between the two.
     "Air /water" guns are the simplest of form of snow gun available. They simply mix compressed air and water together and shot them out a nozzle. There is nothing else to these guns. Air/water guns are the most effective for home snowmaking and are also very useful for large resort snowmaking.      "Airless" fan snow machines are used by large ski resorts who have the need for large amounts of snow over a wide area in a very short time. Fan guns actually use most of the same principles of air/water guns. The biggest similarity is that fan guns are called airless but they really do use compressed air along with the fan.
