Home snowmaking is a very simple form of resort snowmaking. It uses all the same principles of resort snowmaking but on a smaller scale. All home and resort snow making requires the use of high pressure air, but unlike resorts not all home snowmaking requires high pressure water. The largest difference between the two kinds of snowmaking is flow. Resorts are able to afford large pumps that let them run large amounts of water and up to 350 cubic feet of air per minute through one gun.
   At home we usually use flows closer to 4.5 to 14 CFM air and water between .2 and 4 gallons per minute. We are also using much less pressure with air at about 40 to 50 PSI and water at 30 to 50 PSI or with a pressure washer the water can get up to 2000 or 3000 PSI. The pressure washer and high air flow makes the most snow but is obvioulsy very expensive.
