Suspension Work

Suspension complete (5-1-05)

After lots of work, the suspension is finally assembled. She's sitting nice and high and ready for the body after just a few hours of assembly. Once the body was set one it seems to be setting about 4-5 inches higher than stock, which I am very happy about.

After dropping the body on we checked the flex from the front and the back. It came out to be about 24-25 inches in both the front and the back. While checking the rear flex the front springs began to negative arc, so we stopped lifting. Once bump stops are installed the rear should gain at least a couple of inches. Also the front shackle is hitting the body mount so trimming that will help.

Testing out the front flex after putting the body on.

Suspension Design

The plan for the suspension is to run a Solid axle in front hung from two rear leaf packs. For the rear I will run the IFS rear axle and a cheve 1/2 ton leaf pack.

IFS junk gone

I finally got all the IFS mounts cut off of the chassis. Next step is to cut it in half and start rebuilding the weak areas of the chassis. That will prove to be a fun process ;).
